VT 25 – 4-H Support – Ask the Experts
George Hall, Janice McCalip and Kent Houck, all former 4-H’ers and supporters, talk about fundraising and recruiting volunteer leaders. Gives ideas on fundraising approaches and techniques.

VT 90 - Oklahoma Community Youth Effort Training*
This tape provides an introduction to a new 4-H program called Oklahoma Community Youth Effort, OCYE. The program is designed for young people and an adult volunteer to choose a project that will help the community then implement it. The tape goes through the Blueprint for Action plan groups should follow using one OCYE group already in action.

VT 99 – Judging Market Steers 1988
This tape will help young people learn what to look for when judging market steers and how to analyze differences between animals. Part 1 uses pairs of example steers to show how to evaluate four major traits. Part 2 shows a class of steers for students to practice judging.

VT 100 - 4-H Horticulture Identification* 1988
The purpose of this video tape is to provide 4-H volunteer leaders and 4-H agents with a readily accessible visual aid for teaching I.D. of horticultural crops. The nine-part video is keyed to the 4-H Horticulture Identification Card used in 4-H contests; it is directed toward contest participants but can also be effectively used as a general interest plant I.D. tool. (Length: 1 hour and 58 minutes)

VT 105 - 4-H Meats Identification* 1988
This tape is divided into five parts. Fred Ray, PhD, OSU Cooperative Extension Food Animal Specialist, hosts all five parts. Part 1, The Basics, covers how to identify meat cuts by color, bone structure and muscular structure and Ray discusses cookery methods in relationship to particular cuts. Parts 2, 3, 4 feature Ray showing various retail cuts from a beef, pork and lamb carcass respectively. Part 5 features 32 cuts of meat for students to practice identifying. (Length: 30 minutes)

VT 133 – So You’re a 4-H Parent! 1988
This promotional tape is designed to educate parents about the 4-H program, what their child will gain from 4-H and how they as parents can get involved. Ideal for county 4-H agents to use with new parents at the beginning of a 4-H year. Developed as part of a Salute to Excellence grant.

VT 203 – Keys to Giving Oral Livestock Judging Reasons 1988
This video gives information on how to give reasons in the area of accuracy, length, note taking, organization, presentation, and terminology. It also features five sets of reasons given by livestock judging contestants and an evaluation of each by OSU’s Livestock Judging Coach Jarold Callahan.

This tape will help young people learn what to look for when judging market lambs and how to analyze differences between animals. Part 1 uses pairs and trios of example lambs to show how to evaluate three major traits. Part 2 shows a class of lambs for students to practice judging.

VT 283 – How to Use Ag in the Classroom 1990
This is an introduction and how-to guide for the “Ag in the Classroom” program. The program is designed to integrate agriculture-related issues with regular classroom subjects. The tape shows the need for agricultural education, how the program is used, and a demonstration of a lesson.

VT 308 - Practice Horse Judging: Western Riding II 1990
This video shows practice or sample classes in horse judging. This tape shows skills needed for the hunter under saddle class. (Length: 43 minutes)

VT 311 - FFA Forestry Judging  1991
A six-part series covering events in the FFA Forestry Judging Contest. Events covered include: (1) Introduction to the contest (2) Tree identification (3) Compass and pacing (4) Tree measurement (5) Timber improvement (6) Setting up the contest. The tape is to be used by adult leaders who set up local contests, and for contestants. (Length: 35:33 minutes)

A six part series covering the events of the 4-H Forestry Judging contest. VT 387 - Oklahoma Aqua Times 1993Oklahoma Aqua Times is a 4-H school enrichment program. The five segment video deals with conserving one of our most precious natural resources – water. Units over hydrologic cycle, surface and groundwater; pollution, how we use water and conservation of water. (Length: 43 minutes)

VT 489 - Wildlife Habitat Evaluation Contest- Leaders Guide 1992
This tape explains 4-H program that teaches youth the fundamentals of wildlife management. It explains the role of the adult leader and outlines the material to be taught. The tape portrays the activities and competition at the Nations Invitational Competition held each year. (Length: 42 minutes)

VT 518 - Horse Judging - Part 3
This tape is designed to aid the formation of a horse judging team on a competitive level. Includes trail and western riding classes discussed by AQHA judge Holly Hover of Parker, Colorado. Audiences have the opportunity to judge each class prior to the announcement of official placings.  Explanations for the placings are given. Oral reasons follow each class. (Length: 42 minutes)

VT 519 - Horse Judging - Part 4 1995
The video is designed to aid the formation of a horse judging team on a competitive level. It features halter and reining competition with each class composed of four horses. Audiences have the opportunity to judge each class prior to the announcement of official placings. Explanations for the placings are then given by AQHA judge Don Topliff. One set of oral reasons follows each class. (Length: 46 minutes)

VT 526 - Judging Horticulture Commodities 1996
Giving an in-depth look at horticulture judging contests, this video covers staging of classes and judging techniques. Viewers all judge plant materials including potted plants and nursery stock, cut flowers, fruits, vegetables, and nuts. Reasons are given at the end of each class.

This video introduces students to the concepts of anatomy of grass-eating animals. Comparisons between human and grass-eating animal digestive systems will be made. (Length: 60 minutes)

This video introduces students to the concepts of the value of our nation’s forests, the manufacturing process from raw materials to finished products, and the role of trees in the world ecology. (Length: 60 minutes)

This video tells how insects are the most successful group of animals on earth and almost one million species have been identified. (Length: 1 hour)

Horses are creatures that provide great joy, pleasure and entertainment, this video demonstrates how part of that pleasure and entertainment comes from their ability to run fast. (Length: 1 hour)

This video introduces students to the concept of aquaculture and hydroponics. These science-based technologies will then be used to explain a closed system in nature.

VT 714 - Gee Whiz in Agriculture 6 – From Moo to You 1995
This video introduces the student to the dairy cow, how she produces milk, how milk is processed, the many products made from milk and the fact that milk and milk products are nutritious. (Length: 1 hour)

This videotape is about how to make relationships between teens and parents work better. 

VT 728 – Proper Fumigation for a worker* 1993
This video shows the steps involved for safe application of fumigants to structures such as warehouse and grain elevators. Application techniques for facilities constructed of steel and concrete are featured.

VT 734 - A Step Beyond: A Question of Ethics 1995
This is a sequel to VT 484, “A Question of Ethics” which addressed the issue of unethical activity associated with the Junior Livestock Program. This video gives 4-H and FFA members, agricultural education instructors, Extension agents and parents the tools to address the subject of ethics as situations arise at the local level. (Length: 23 minutes)

VT 748 - Developing Oral Reason Skills for Youth Competitive Horse Judging Programs  1997
This tape presents a discussion on the basis for oral reasons including organizational methods, teaching techniques, presentation techniques and scoring procedures. It is of greatest value to those involved in coaching or assisting youth with a horse judging interest. However, because of similarity in livestock and horse reasons, it will also be of benefit to those teaching judging with other species of animals. (Length: 35 minutes)

VT 749 - Presentation and Critiques of Competitive Youth and Intercollegiate Horse Judging Oral Reasons 1997
This tape uses a series of 12 sets of reasons from successful junior and senior 4-H members, and intercollegiate judging teams. Critiques of each presentation enforce the presentation techniques and qualities that make oral reasons effective. Those involved in coaching or assisting youth with horse judging interests should find this tape most valuable. (Length: 38 minutes)

This video is a commercial for the promotion of 4-H. The main focus is to encourage youth to get in 4-H and continue with the program. (9:08 minutes)
